"The evidence should be in the room"? [spoilers]

I got to the point to a datacube where Paul said it would be, and he mentioned that in the room there was evidence of Manderley taking payoffs or something. Problem is, the room seems empty and I can't find what he's talking about. I did the "map swap" mod before getting to the room (though the thing was still on top of a shelf instead of a table like he said). Is it actually there, or is the game screwing with me?
