Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition

Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition

GMDX Mod
Been trying this out, and I think it's got several issues. Crates with nothing in them? Some scripts are broken, Ammos is ridiculously sparse. Lockpicks and tech tools hard to find. Quit when I got to a bug where jojo fine is supposed to threaten the rentens, and he just stands there. I'm all for upgraded experiences, but I want things that add to, not take away from, the original game. Revision isn't that great either. Actually decided to play vanilla with the fan patch and the updated maps. Also using Kenties Launcher for high resolution. So nice to have a reasonable amount of ammo, tools, and lockpicks. Quit revision when I realized that Smuggler's office has a bunch of stuff that is unobtainable. Just window dressing.

Revision is not Deus Ex, and neither is GMDX, but at least GMDX actually changes things instead of breaks things and adds stupid ♥♥♥♥ that doesn't even remotely fit the atmosphere of Deus Ex. Revision isn't worth playing in a million years. it's nothing short of garbage, garbage, garbage. GMDX for me is fantastic but if you want Deus Ex that's not it, it changes too much. Playing either of these on a first or second playthrough would kill the original game.

All the things you mentioned wrong about GMDX, like the various bugs, the rarer supplies, and the crates with nothing in them are going to be fixed in the next version of GMDX, I've heard.

Would be nice. I especially hate the stupid idea of crates with nothing in them. And clips that give 3 bullets? You shouldn't have to upgrade low tech weapons to master so you can always open doors. Many doors are invincible. Why? Maybe have the installer offer a choice when installing so that you can install a reasonable version of the mod, or you can install it as it comes default. Many alternate paths are closed off due to the smaller amount of lockpicks and tech tools in the game. Nothing makes me madder than to be desperate for something to help me get further in the game, spy a non ammo crate, bust it open and... NOTHING. And from forums I've read where he talks about why he made the choices he did, they don't seem indicitave of anyone else's experiences but his own.

To put it in more detail, the amount of supplies you find in GMDX v9.0 depends on the difficulty selection, for example, in Medium, ammo, pickups, and even explosive crates are easier to find than in Realistic or Hardcore. Personally, I think the lockpicks and multitools are too common in vanilla, because I've really explored the game and know where to find them, but if you want more or less pickups you can just choose a different difficulty in GMDX's upcoming update.
Yeah by the end of Hell's Kitchen second run I already have 20 lockpicks and multitools and stay that way for the rest of the game.

Also have not been given an option to rescue Shick. I've been to Smuggler's multiple times, but never been given the option to find shick in exchange for lower rates on his inventory.

Just wait for GMDX 9. It's coming out of the 1st of June.

GMDX is great, haven't encountered any of the things OP talks about.
