Full Screen Mode Snaps to one monitor
I have two monitors and I'm trying to play the game on one of them, but it always opens on the wrong one. I put in in Windowed mode, and then learned I had to set the cursor to not remain in the window to even access the bar to move it. When I moved it to my other monitor, I didn't have an option to maximize the window - the box is grayed out. If I switch back to full screen mode, it snaps back to my other monitor. So I can only play the game in windowed mode in whatever size it happens to be when I drag it to my other monitor.

Full screen mode indeed only works on your primary monitor as set in the Windows settings. To alter that you would need to alter it under Windows first.

The windowed mode window can be resized by changing the resolution under the game's display settings to be in accordance with your screen's resolution.

Note that the game has a control bar with buttons at the bottom of the screen so if you use the exact resolution of your monitor for the game in windowed mode that bar won't be accessible to you, i.e. you need to set the game to a resolution lower than the actual screen's resolution

Thank you for the help, although that is frustrating. It seems like such a basic thing that I can do on any other game.

We will look at adding an option for choosing the useable display at some point during development.

In the meantime you can use Steam's Big Picture mode to choose which display to play on.
Big Picture mode can be set to use your second display and this won't affect games if played outside of the Big Picture mode.
Start Big Picture mode then, under display settings, select the monitor you want to play the game on.

Thanks, I just went with a lower resolution so it would size where I could view the whole window and move it around. At full size on my second monitor, I was missing the bottom bar. I didn't realize there was a help button until I had been playing for hours.

It's been a year since this question came up here. Is this setting planned to be in the next big update?

I would really like to play this game without changing how I use my computer.

As already mentioned above you can use Steam's Big Picture mode to choose which display to play on.

Big Picture mode can be set to use your second display and this won't affect games if played outside of the Big Picture mode. Start Big Picture mode then, under display settings, select the monitor you want to play the game on.

Other than that there is currently no further information from the devs if this will be implemented or not in the game. But since it is a very small QoL improvement for a limited number of people I doubt it is high in the priority list.

This is so dumb that I can't play this game on my monitor of choice without having to jump through hoops everytime I want to play this game. I am feeling like I waisted my money a game that can't do what most other games can. Heck it's been almost two years....

this is a crap design choice. I can't believe it hasn't been addressed yet. over two years later and we are still having to change our entire system setup to get this game to play on the right monitor.

No that is completely wrong.

Most games offer the ability to select which monitor to use for the game (in full screen mode). Monitor 1 or monitor 2.

They would not do this if it was a "very small" improvement for a "limited number" of people.

By not offering this, your game is lacking useful functionality that makes it less capable than what a gamer expects a game to be able to do in 2023.

Please stop trying to convince yourself this is somehow something extravagant or rare. Thank you.

2 years later and still not fixed. It is time to sort this now.

When you uninstall the game Steam doesn't delete the user files (such as manual saves, user settings etc.)

If you go into \Documents\Polymorph Games\Foundation you should see the file called usersetting.config

Either
1) edit this with notepad++ and adjust the line <DisplayMonitor value="\\.\DISPLAY2"/> to <DisplayMonitor value="\\.\DISPLAY1"/>
Or
2) Delete the usersetting.config file. Note: Deleting the file will mean the game will ask for permissions as if it was a brand new installation
