1.7 UI Preview Feedback: Megathread
Hey everyone!

As you may have seen there is a preview build of the upcoming UI update available on Steam.

We would love to get your feedback on the new UI, for which we would like to keep everything in one nice and easy to view thread.

Please post all preview feedback below. Note threads may get merged to this megathread.

Hello! I've tried it for a few seconds, only in the main menu so far. First of all: It looks great! Really refreshing and modern. Thank you for that!
I would love to get an option to increase font size - whereas the font in the menu is just right, the font in mod descriptions is REALLY small. I can read it, but barely, so it would be great to be able to increase it. For reference: My monetary resolution is 1366x768. (I cannot turn it up, unfortunately)
Also, it would be cool to increase the size of the popups in the menu. For example, right now I'm only able to see the "Installed Mods/Browse Mods"-Bar, the new additions and then only two Mods, after which I already have to scroll. Increasing the size of the box so it displays a few more mods (maybe 5?) would be great!
The font-background-contrast in the announcement box in the main menu is also very low and might do better with a little increase or at least bigger font.

That's all I have to say for now, thank you for letting us preview!

Awesome job. I liked the minimalist interface before, but this is definitely an improvement, despite being slightly more intrusive. Here are a couple of suggestions:
1. When you click a building, its card opens. Clicking it again should close the card to avoid having to move the mouse to click on the close button.
2. At the top, when you click "Villagers unemployed", it would be nice if this opened the book on the villagers page.

Hey, the new villagers joining message is now very small and disappears quickly, It would be nice to have it be a bit more prominent. I missed it several times which slowed me down considerably at the start, not knowing I had new villagers to assign.

Hello! I do like this new UI. Very informative and good looking. However, the infobox for the Lord Manor states the Great Hall adds 750 gold capacity to the coffers. It does not, unfortunately. Keep up the good work! I'm really looking forward to the next patch.

In the market view some numbers are not synchroniszing correctly yet. If the market employee fetches new wares, the number of stored goods goes up, but the other number (x/y total capacity) does not.

So if I have 50 stored berries, I will still have 47/50 total capacity for a while. I do have a screenshot but don't know how to put it here ^^"

@mareiketaeubner if you upload the screenshot to your Steam profile we will be able to see it there. You can also copy the link to it after upload and paste it here.

If you can't see the URL in the seam client you can enable it in
View > Settings > Interface > Check the box for "Display web address..."

Really love the new UI, it's easier to find things and it looks nicer. Love this game and cant wait to see where yall take it!

Been asked to post my experience with new UI. I am Dyslexic and found the UI very hard to see as it is far too small and not explained very well also choice of colours is not good. Example of this would like using warehouses, How do place items into them, took me nearly an hour to figure that out alone, I really like playing foundation and would recommend this Game, But i feel the new UI could use some change like option for bigger text for people with Disabilities and a better choice of colours or let player choose them so that can read it better, A video tutorials would be very useful as well, Like I said overall I think foundation is good game, But if the UI remains unchanged than I sorry i will not be able play this game.

This is just the first phase of the New UI. We will continue to make improvements after the full UI update release including more work on accessibility so your feedback is very useful.

One thing that might help right now would be to increase the UI scaling in the settings menu.

Provide a "Don't show this again" checkbox on Help dialog for new game.
If I want help in the future there is always the ? icon in the upper right corner.

Reserve vertical space in building dialog for unassigned workers so when you click on an unemployed worker the list of workers doesn't move. Should be able to click-click-click on list of unemployed workers to fill up a building's roster. This is when using the dialog itself. Using the Book window + works fine without this tweak.

Persist the last location of all dialogs. If I open a dialog, move it, close it, and then re-open that dialog it should appear at the last place I put it. This persistence should be maintained across saves/restarts of the game.

Cannot choose a worker for a newly created market from the Market dialog. The Market Tender Assigned is just a label.

Provide a way to restore a Market/Warehouse slot to Empty Slot once a material is chosen. Allows commodity to be moved around in the warehouse as its load/unload position varies with slot number.

Provide keyboard shortcut for the tool modes: Visibility, Territory, Paint, Build and make customizable.

Provide a way to prioritize a building under construction to force the workers to work on that building before any unprioritized buildings.

Serf promotion should be first in the dialog. Too easy to prematurely promote to Commoner/Citizen when you wanted to build from the base up.

The new UI is beautiful! One thing I noticed right away is that I would really like to be able to right click or press escape to close out of windows.

Hi @ Ash, Thank you for your tip about the setting, this has made the game whole lot easier for to see and read and I am play this good game once again, However some of the wording is still to small (on the maximum size allowed for UI) and can be difficult to read and colours of new UI are not good for me and my dyslexic and visual problems, so be nice to able change that and maybe the words size ? Also I was not aware of this option in the setting to adjust the size of UI maybe that could be shown or announced to help people like myself with visual and reading difficulties. Once Again thank you for your time, I do like the New UI it just the wording can be small at times and colours of background of UI is not great for me. I wish you and all the Team of developers all the best and take care. PS PLEASE forgive any spelling or grammar mistakes :)

Hi! I might be doing something wrong.. But my soldiers (novices) doesn´t get any comfort relief from the dorms.. They're all complaining about not having a roof over their head even though they're assigned to dorms. That's new from when I installed the Beta.

Otherwise thanks for a great update! So much easier to know how to satisfy my villagers and sooo much easier to assign soldiers to missions now that you can see who is wounded and who is fully trained etc.

Looking good. Played 3-4 hours yesterday. Here's my penny's worth:

1: Pop up dialogues. Add press esc to get rid of them and clicking on the same building again closes.
2: hover over info is a little inconsistent. Either add feed back to the hover so it's consistent with itself (e.g. a halo) or you'll have to have a hover info box on everything (which would actually be very nice....and then become annoying).
3: placeholder text. noticed this one time didn't catch where sorry.
4: Promotion at the end of the month needs to be made more prominent. It's become part of the feed, and I've missed it. Make it a different colour than other things (actually colour coding event types would be pretty cool).

Good work, so nice to see polish coming in. Love the new villager art, so much better.
