PS: what exactly would the use of a "next monk" key be? Why would you want to cycle through your monks?
M: Go to monk was not meant for monastery monks, but for the monk that visits the town hall and offers a deal. Not that important.
For me the most important key would be the Home key. This would be especially useful if resources are found far away. I then have to search my town, then move back to it (or select a worker from the list and go to it as a workaround). A bit painful either way.
Another would be Ctrl-L to quick load your last quick save.
Oh, and really, the game needs a button [Continue] at the main screen that simply loads the latest saved game. Is that not what players do most at the main screen? 😉
Regarding the tiny icons, you can change this. Go to Settings. Under the General tab you can change the value User Interface Scale. For some reason, when you select 2.00x it goes to 1.80x though, but still a big difference.
See on screenshot.

Yeah, I know of that and I actually had this setting for a while. On the other hand, that clutters the screen even more, so I reverted back to scale 1.0
Let's just hope that things are getting better with the new UI.
Not possible? ;-(
