Monastry nobody taking jobs bug?
I built a monastery, with housing for monks, about 10 or so... I build a chapel but nobody would become a priest, so I built a Scriptorium. But nobody would work in it.. so I build a garden, and a refectory, still nobody taking jobs... so I built a cloister and a kitchen, .... Still none of the monks would do any jobs, I can't promote any of them because I don't have scripts.... So I built a nun dormitory.... got some nuns..... STILL NOBODY works. I tried sacking them all and rehiring them... I tried restarting the game... No monastery employment. Am I doing it wrong or is this a bug ?

Its taken hours and many resources to build all this and its costing upkeep but not producing anything as far as I can tell.

I have an issue where no one will work in the monastery vegetable garden. I have one with staff, but no food is created, and the other is without workers. I have 5 unemployed nuns.
If you try to assign them, they just leave again
I cannot make anyone work as well! Even the scriptorium needs brother and sister so i cannot even promote the nuns or the monks. Could you be able to fix it?

You don't have the monistary built correctly

You build a dorm or two right.
now click on that dorm and EDIT, Use the + icon on the bottom. Now ADD your berry planter. or scriptorum, later the kitchen same way. Now that dorm will staff the connected industry.
I temporary fix to this bug, is to select a different building, then select the building you want to staff, then click the staff icon, you can then staff one person from unemployed... This menu will disappear and change and you can't staff it anymore even if you have lots of unemployed monks/nuns.... but if you select another monastery building and then re-select the one you want to staff... it will let you add another person... repeat.... It is clearly a bug.

Well that changes everything, it works perfectly!

I've noticed the bug is in the menu that pops up when you try to assign the worker, such as in the Scriptorium. Sometimes the menu allows assignment, but most of the time, it does not. You have to try different things over and over to be able to just assign one worker.

I found a way around the issue of assigning monks at the scriptorium: have game at 1x speed then pause (0x) then click on a different building (I click on my tavern), then click on the Scriptorium and it lets me assign them. You may have to do this several times as the bug does come back.

was having this problem for a long time, seeing sporadic success and then failure for no obvious reason

what I have found works for me 100% now is
(1) pause the game at any speed which stops the bug where it closed the people list on you
(2) click the monastery-type building (herb garden, scriptorium, anything) that you want to staff
(3) click the plus sign, choose from the unemployed and click their plus sign
(4) it will add the person
(5) to add a second person, either click the same building again which will cause its window to change a little (become longer or shorter) OR click a different building and reclick your building
(6) repeat steps 3-4
(7) repeat 5 again if needed

you can also click a different building as well instead of clicking the same building over and over again

the point is that the bug in adding people is avoided by seemingly cycling the building's panel; also, if your initial add is unsuccessful, try cycling the building's panel to get past the bug - sometimes it doesn't work during the first add which always made me think there was a game prereq stopping me which turned out to not be the case
