Unable to load saved game

Hi - I purchased this game yesterday, and really enjoyed the three or so hours I put into the game. However, since a midday save - I have since been unable to load a previously saved game (autosave - or actual named save). The files are listed, I click load - it goes through the loading process, the sound changes (as though it is opening) and then everything shuts down and we return to windows desktop. Any suggestions?

While it is an expensive game, I was really enjoying it and do not really want to request a refund.

Did you maybe close the game while the "saving" white letters were still visible on the bottom? If this is the case then the save file could be corrupt and unable to load. Autosaves are every 5 minutes so you wouldn't have lost a lot of progress if you have them enabled

That was my initial thought - but none of the autosaves will load either. Same result - it almost loads, music changes then game crash, return to windows.

hmmm that is weird, could you maybe send us one of the save files via dropbox/onedrive/googledrive/similar?

Or would you rather I delete and do a clean install? I installed it on my 'ye olde' home PC - which is below minimum requirements and it runs fine - have played it for 12 hours over the last few days (a few issues later in game - only getting about 10-12FPS - a few villagers getting very confused - but other than that...). I wasn't prepared to load a save file from my gaming laptop incase it created the same problem... Let me know what you'd prefer me to do.

Yes sure a clean install or a verification of the game files through steam might fix it if that is the problem. Try to load the save file in the other pc too to see what will happen I would say.

Where will I find the save game files? The 'Save Game' folder in Docs/Poly../Found../Save Game is empty..? Inside the game it shows all the game files in the Lord directory.

I went in this morning to attempt a load to make sure I had the correct file, and all my saved games are gone from the load game option. They are all still present in the directory, but not loadable from the game. I did a quick test village - started the game, saved it - exited game and then re-loaded and it all seemed to work fine... I hope I haven't wasted your time - if I have, I am sorry.

PS: try verifying file integrity on steam in case something has gone wrong there ;)

I did that - everything came back OK. I wonder if that is why the game can no longer find any of the saved games prior to the verifying the game files??

After loosing access to all previously saved games (see above) I started a test game and played it for a few hours last night - saved and loaded a few times - all good. Today, however, we are back to the same issue - file is there, click load - it goes through the motion, the music changes and game shuts - back in windows.

I have just uninstalled the game and will do a fresh install to see if that resolves the issue.

Problem still remains. Fresh install - new games (started after new install) - worked fine yesterday - today attempted to load - game crashes - so frustrating.

hmm this is really weird, I will pass the save files and this thread on to the developers to check the crash reports you sent and in case they need to get in contact with you.

For now could you please post here your system specs? including the CPU with the clock speed and the specific GPU model

Hi saemonsays_42, sorry to hear you are having issues with the save files. If the files are in the \Program Files `(x86)\Steam\userdata\....` directory then it would indicate you are using the cloud save option. At this point i'm not sure what the issue is but could you try moving one or more of the saves to the `\Documents\Polymorph Games\Foundation\Save Game` folder and see if it will allow you to start the save(s) from there? It should show up in your load menu after moving it.
