Beta - Grass not shown anymore

Ever since the beta, no matter what "Grass Distance" Option I choose, I cannot see Grass, only a uniform green colour. This should not be caused by my system (which is capable enough) and I did not change any settings

edit: after trying a few options here is how I fixed it: I had to go to the "Desirability Layers" Menu and then choose "Residential". Click it again and suddenly the grass appears
