Won't Build Bridge?

Hey, so I have been trying to build a wooden bridge for like 10 in-game weeks and even though it lets me place the bridge and start construction, it always says it's waiting for a builder. I have tons of builders, some living right next to the bridge, and making it a priority job doesn't help. I have enough wood and money, but it's just kinda stuck. Since I started on a map with lots of rivers... This is quickly becoming a larger problem.

Any ideas for things I can try?

Find one builder who does good building and is walking around.
Make all your builders unemployed.
Wait 2 minutes.
Find that one builder and make them a builder again.

Hm, I exited the game which I'd been keeping the construction window open on, but now that I've loaded it the bridge isn't there, not even the beginning posts that I originally saw.

oh you have placed the bridge way too low right in the no-walk zone next to the river shore. The game doesn't atm warn you against this but the collision system is in the works.

For now make sure you place both sides of the bridge properly and fully in-land with the ramp on both sides slightly visible.

Ah, that makes sense. I'll try making sure the two angled supporting beams are farther on land. I tried doing that with my last bridge attempt, but maybe it wasn't far enough.

Okay, so I have tried several times making the wooden bridge very far inland, but it's still not working. I even tried connecting it specifically to footpaths to make sure it's in a zone where they can walk through, and putting them so far on land that it's not even close to the bank.

Can't seem to get them to make stone bridges either.

On your screenshot the number for planks is yellow right? That means you are stockpiling them, i.e. villagers are not allowed to use them, if you stop stockpiling by pressing the stockpile button on the resources list one more time they should be able to build them.

Side note, the bridge on the first screenshot might be too close to the house and blocked by it once it is built but that shouldn't block the building process in any way.

Oof, well I feel foolish. Thanks, I forgot to turn that off since with the previous "too close to the banks" bridges it didn't make a difference. I didn't have stones stockpiled with the other bridge, but I tried a lot of things so I wouldn't be surprised if I flubbed something somewhere.

Hi! Hope you got a functional bridge by now :)
Things to keep in mind when building monuments in Foundation:
Will the workers be able to reach the construction site.
Do I have enough workers (keep in mind that building houses will use your workers)
Do I have the resources available and ready to build.

Constructions that are stating that "waiting for a builder" means that one of the condition mentioned above is not met. Make sure that other constructions are paused or stopped to have available workers for your new construction. :)

Bridges are still a bit of an issue. I had one build completely but my people refused to cross it. Had to build another that was WAY up on the land just to get people to cross. Took like 255 planks. =\

The game doesn't atm warn against faulty bridge placement but yes you need to place it will in land with the ramps slightly visible on both sides.

To be fair, the first was a ways on the land already and they still didn't use it. I don't try to shortcut games with my placement.

If you have a screenshot of it I could probably tell you why they couldn't use it :)
