- I stopped making barrels quite a while ago; too extensive. Much more simple just to import them.
- Similar with glass. I produce it only when I need it for stained glass windows; otherwise I hoard or export quartz.
I guess this is not the way you are meant to play but ATM, it's the only sensible way.
I do have 1 cooper, which produces some barrels. I am making sure I always have atleast 150 Iron in stock.... (by trade) because for some reason the 3 iron deposites and 3 iron smelters could not produce enough for everything.
This made sure all production of tools, common goods ect flourished.
I did the same trick with barrels. I made sure ONLY 1 area could store barrels, right next to the wine production. The minimal I did want to have in stock was 50 barrels. And also my wine production exploded.
In this game it is realy hard to notice the benefit from each production stream. I already posted an idea about showing statistics. Maybe you should build an addition building in the Manor to be able to show these statistics and give a villager a job to count the production stream for like 5 diff products.
