As OP stated: bottom left of the screen. There is an icon to switch between day, night, dawn/dusk and rain. But for now only manually and only cosmetic.
I prefer it as it is now BUT I definitely think there should be an option to let it auto-cycle for those that want that.
but sure there should be a day night automatic cycling mechanism
Or, just for the sake of avoiding a fast cycle, you could just make it slower than the current clock. For example, assuming you're playing in 3x speed, the day and night cycle could be 3x slower than the clock to keep a consistent looking cycle. Then, changing your speed to 1x, then the day night cycle could be playing at normal speed.
Since we compensate the speed by slowing down the exact same speed, it should still look coherent when you go back to default game speed.
