My monks and nuns are not reproducing
I created a "mixed" monastery that includes both monks and nuns with the hope of creating a self-replenishing "home grown" system so that I don't have to commit valuable immigrants to my monastery. I initially assigned 2 monks and 2 nuns to the monastery. I have ensured that the nun dormitory module and the monk dormitory module are adjacent and "snapped" together. It has been more than an hour of in-game time with the speed setting on 2x and the population of my monastery has remained stagnant. I committed one additional monk and one additional nun from my available immigrants but that did not seem to solve the problem. I'm working on unlocking the clergy "tech tree" but none of the little description blurbs indicate that any of those techs/perks will speed up the reproduction process. I hesitate to comb the forums for an answer to this, as I love to figure out problems like this on my own, but I am totally stumped here. I almost wish that I had just made a single gender monastery, which would have been more realistic/historically accurate, but I really wanted to create a self-sustaining population. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Has anyone noticed the current behaviour of villagers on benches? I have them very definitely sitting on other people's laps. I didn't dare invade their privacy by staring. But just saying :-)

They can't have kids, there's only gravestones. I try to let them have a little fun before the inevitable end.

Any insights on this one?

As already pointed out by others, the game does not include birth, the only way to increase your population is accepting immigrants.
