The coastal appendix is the ideal place to start, and the only one on the entire map with multiple fishing spots. It is full of iron, and in the ore rocks there are 2 marble and 2 gold. Partially flat, some soft hills in a few places.

The NE quadrant is awesome with plenty of open land and large well-shaped territories!
Just NE of the center of the map east of the river is a starting area with two adjacent mineral deposit territories.
And then adjacent to those is another territory with a cluster of 3 deposits.
Farther NE is a final cluster of 3 still within acceptable range of a large city.

I've gone through at least 4 different saves on THIS seed alone...because it's absolutely perfect. The hill overlooks the river valley below...is the absolute perfect place to place a castle on. It's glorious!
I think this is the map seed: 51sRq5u0070a0

A nice fairly flat coastal map with a prominent large island.

The island comes with 2 iron nodes and a quartz node.

The map itself is absolutely filled with small iron nodes. but you might find the stone nodes a little light.

Will try again to see if it changes.
A new map I came across moments ago, great I think for players that like having mountains of quarries close by (There are 4, might need to keep generating it to get the resources you like) as well as two islands to build on.

What is your goal for this one? What's your minimum benchmark before you're willing to give in to being chronicly restarted?
Ultimately I want to get to the bottom of the prestige menu for common, manor house and monastery before the feeling of restart takes hold. I'd also like to get any homes on Monastery island to the highest density and have a nice size of citizen level villagers which would be a first, I usually restart after a few serfs are promoted to commoners, I'd like to get to citizens and see if it looks any fancier in game..
But time will tell when it becomes a chore in stead of fun. I'd love to hit 500 villagers, I think the most ever has been 250 - 280
So I present:
Plenty of flattish land, and water, and I particularly enjoy getting two quarry mountains near center of the map and though the spawn point for the way the image shows is upper left it's offset to me by having so much large flat open areas to now place what will surely take up a lot of space for sheep farms.
EDIT I forgot to add the overview screen shot.
