Coal production very slow
I have 8 or 9 coal productions but they barely produce any while I have 500 wood near them to use what is happening I keep making more and more coal producers but it barely makes a difference

Coal producers need woodcutting zone to cut their own trees near them. I am guessing yours are currently travelling quite far to get to a tree cutting zone

This. Treat them exactly like a Lumber Camp. Put two in the middle of a forest with a Forester Camp, paint a small swatch of woodcutting & replanting around them, then watch them go.

And remember to set up a Warehouse near the Smelter/Smith/whatever where the Coal is going to be used.

but this part seen to be buggy. I have a coal maker hut IN a big forest and the workers are either stupid or blind, they dont see the forest for the trees, they keep walking half the map for another forest, while another coal producers are all good and keep cutting the trees around their workplace.
Even destroying the apparently buggy building and set up a new one in a different place didnt help

Have you actually painted their nearby forest with woodcutting zone?
Yes, but you gave me an idea. I will try painting a second area
If you still have an issue please upload your save file to take a closer look

Great tip, did not know this. My coal production is now meeting my demands.
The prioritization of woodcutting areas does seem a bit wonky for the charcoal burners. I have two areas zoned for woodcutting, but they often walk to the farther one despite being in the middle of the closer one. I had to remove the farther zone to get them to stop doing this, but using only one woodcutting area at a time is unwieldy.

So far coal has been the bottleneck in my production chains, I am a bit surprised by how little they generate.

I haven't had any issues so far with Burners leaving their area. I devote a little over one "full circle" worth of woodcutting area to each Burner and one Forester per 3 Burners. And all that is enough to support one Smelter-Smith combo.

So, the coal producing shanty do or do not need their own wood cutting area? I think this whole forester having it's own forest planting area is confusing what has it's own vs having to have a private painted area, at least to me. I wonder how much more or less confusing it might be to either make all universal paintbrushes or make all individual paintbrushes instead of having both.

But still with the coal shanty being next to a forest and the forest marked to be cut down it is still slow production of coal and might need a buff, at least a little one.

They should cut the closest painted with woodcutting zone tree to their coal hut and move radially outwards

Forester and 'woodcutter' (villagers working at a Logging Camp or Coal Burner) are different jobs in different buildings.

A Coal Burner needs both a woodcutting area and a Forester to replenish the cut trees. It functions exactly like a Logging Camp

The Coal Burner chops the nearest mature tree within a painted 'Woodcutting' area.

The Forester then replants trees in deforested areas within that specific Forester Hut's painted zone.

Okay so they are working like they should so maybe they need to look into a little buff to make coal faster than they are currently?

Coal burners are indeed very slow atm, I wish they made 2 coal instead of 1 per tree tbh
