How to upgrade Militiamen?
I have 4 companies; 1 each of guards, spears, bows and swords. I've got them all to 10 members, thanks to command posts. My question is how do I upgrade them to soldiers and knights?

The upgrade button is marked as free, so is it just a question of repeatedly sending them on missions to rank them up?

yep, send them out on missions until they reach lvl 5, then you can promote them to soldier. Once soldiers reach lvl 10 you can promote them to knights, but theres a cap on how many you can have in relation to soldiers, so you will only be able to promote a small number to knight

Do you know more about the cap?

I have 3 Knights, 19 Soldiers and 24 Militiamen in my companies. In town there are many more Militiamen.

I need some more Knights... I have plenty Lvl.10 Soldier, but the promote button is greyed out.

So, do you know more about the cap?

Another related question... How do you properly set up private quarters for them? I have 2 knights and a unique private quarters (using the + sign for the castle to create a new sub-building), but my second knight categorically refuses to use any of the private quarters?

Maybe you don't have enough space. Whilst building it shows you the expected space in the right corner.

I build 6 small buildings but only got 5 quarters. Just build one more. Or even more for the visiting knights.

Hi,
Before you need 36 soldiersfor 6 knights?
May be they keep the same rate ?
In this cas 42 for 7 etc,etc,etc...
