How many workers or building on a stone or iron ressource?

For one single smelter I build 5 iron collector camps?! But also some workers seem to run a long distance to another iron ressource, so is there a limit?

i think 3 people can be working the node at any given time...and by working the node, i mean actually standing there swinging a pickaxe, so more than 3 can be assigned to one, but only 3 will actually be able to work it at any given time and if all 3 spots are filled the miner will go to the next closest node.
