Why do no monks work the Herb gardens?

I see monks assigned but no figures show up in the graphics working the herb gardens. Also no herbs show up in inventory.

you need to build the herb garden as a sub-building of the monestary by using the + button on the build menu.

What you have done is built a 2nd monestary that has no monks
