Alternatively, you could perhaps place a building from the castle selection (eg: barracks) and then swap the 'build type' from barracks to castle?
Latter might work because ive not played around with the castle much yet and from what i saw you could only have one one castle.
Click on the 'zoom to building' icon - i say this because when i was doing some building of a keep also came across 'already have one' issues, but nothing placed near by; clicked 'zoom to' and it took me to another part of the map (that i didnt own, lol) and the keep was there - can only assume its a bug or perhaps i was moving it during an autosave and its 'glitched' out its movement etc
hope this fixes it for you
Do you have any other parts of the original keep around? i believe this will also include the banners, training dummies, lamps etc - anything you built under the Keep sub-type will probably prevent you from building another one; which means you will need to swap the sub-type of the 'keep' to something else like 'free build' or 'barracks'
However the issue resolved itself once the new Keep building actually was built, just that throughout construction it gave the warning that no “Keep” was part of the build.
