Farm Area Recommended Sizes
Any idea why the game provides advice about the recommended size of a wheat field, but then when I follow that advice and size it per the guidance, it doesn't fully plant the field?

Also, when in brush mode for a wheat farm, some areas of the ground have glowy patches of grass (and it's denser in some locations than others). Does this indicate a better position for the wheat field? Or is this just an asthetic thing?

The guidance is based on optimal worker efficiency for the number of workers currently assigned. The reason the field doesn't get fully planted is because it DOES NOT account for worker travel times... So if your farmhouse is to one side of a very long & narrow field they may not get the field fully planted before the planting window closes (or harvesting window).

Also there is some randomness due to other tasks that might prevent the workers from actually getting to the farm house efficiently in the first place... Do they need to cross the entire city to get food or water? Do they live really close or half way across town? etc... They will still work a full shift when they get to the farmhouse but the planting window only stays open for so long.

Dono about any glowyiness. Nothing stands out when I set up my fields.

Seems the ideal setup is to move farms off the roads and plant fields in a circle around them to lower the overall travelling they'll do during planting. Leaving a thin line back to the road.

Thanks for your post.

I suppose if all your worried about is farmer efficiency... Personally I prefer to just have the fields in 3 directions with the farmhouse near a main road (usually with a 2nd farm across the street). That way I can centralize the Granary/Mill the farms feed into and make the logistics to the Bakeries run smoother.

Honestly layouts and preferences will probably change from person to person so you will probably get alot of different opinions. Especially since this game is grid-less, if you worry about it too much then your going to drive yourself down a rabbit hole of counting pixels to get the most optimal placement and go insane :P
