Why a Granary and a Market Building? Why are you blocking my quesion?
Hi... Why is the moderator erasing my question? This is the 3rd day that I have asked the same basic question, but it never appears on the Discussion boards. Why??

Why does the game have both a granary and a Market building? Why not just a granary? Please answer and quit erasing my question. Thank you.

Why a granary and a Market Center/
What is the difference and why have both?
I guess the granary is the low cost early game option. Market Center is more expensive, can also be used as a market and depending on your settings it's not available at the start of your game.

Also the granary is logistics, meaning you should place it close to production so it can quickly empty their storage, while the market should be placed close to houses so it can provide food to villagers.

The granary stores food for trading and distribution to market stalls.

The market stalls provide food and goods for residents and visitors.

Why is there both a Granay and a Market Center?
Is the Granary only used at the beginning of the game and then the Market Center takes over? Why 2 places to store food?
market stalls are where people buy food.
Granaries are where food is stored. The market employees go to the granaries to get the food to sell at the market stalls.
For me, the new Market Center did make some of the granaries obsolete. Others though I've kept, specially so the ones close to the production sites

I wish all I had to build was two places to store food.....

Anyways with the market place storing the food that means the storage capacity for the counters no longer apply since it is a short trip to restock. A short trip to restock means less people who got shorted because the counter was empty.

More storage also means you can store a larger amount to sell or purchase a larger amount trading.

Being rude like in your post above, is enough to earn a ban, so if they are moving or deleting your threads, Try being polite.

A Granary stores food products. A Market Building sells products.

I am not a Dev, but I guess I am still able to answer your question: There are both buildings, because the Devs decided to.

I dont even know what you mean by "Market building".

There are two buildings containing the word "Market":
  • "Village Market": Thats basically a market stand. So you vendors go to the granary, pick up the goods and put then on their stands/tables. From there, your villagers can buy stuff. So the granary is just a storage, the other building is the actual seller.
  • "City Market": It is tier 150 spelndour if labour. I dont think that you are this far in the game, because otherwise you woudnt ask this very basic and kind of unneccessary question three times.

It might be for your interest, but it does not affect the gameplay at all, if you know why there are two buildings. So, maybe thats the reason your post was deleted? Or maybe you have benn not polite. I dont know.

One is storage, and the other is for selling to your population. Mechanically it has different purpose. You want to have food supply for your people (Market) and trading (Granary) separate, so you don't run out of food for your people just because a trader went by and bought everything in case you set your limits wrong.
Also if you don't want to distribute every type of food to your people, you still can store it all in one place, without them taking it, because they do not take it from the granary, but from the market.
Another thing is that you can store everything in one place, but then sell it in multiple markets across your city (or more villages) if you want.
You don't really need to use the granary if you don't like it (the market staff will collect the resources from production buildings), but you won't be able to trade the food for money.

Ofc you could do all this via an in-game menu and allow/forbid toggles and limits, but that is not the way Devs decided to go, and it works fine as is. Also it makes sense, it worked like this historically.

because a granary is a storage for grain and a market sells various goods that isnt only limited to grain?
Someone finally gave OP the joker. That's all he wanted. Moderators, you can lock this topic.
