Cloisters, what am i doing wrong?
I am building cloisters. I cannot get the "requires enclosed area" error to go away. I have a full circled area, I build a walkway into the circle area, I have interior access to it, but the enclosed refuses to go away. what's an example of a working cloister?

I make them U-shaped, the entrance modules at the end of the U, all looking to the center. Then I build 1-2 buildings closing the open end of the U and make an entrance to this building from the outside. You don't need an entrance from this building to the walkway, just check that it's all connected (green).

I don't know, but there is a red arrow in yours. It seems you have some modules looking to the outside and some to the inside, they should all look to the inside so the rooflines match.
and once built how do you staff it -I can only get Novices cant upgrade?

You don't need to staff the cloister. They visit it once you promoted some of your monks and nuns like some entertainment activity.

You can promote your monks and nuns if you have produced enough manuscripts from your scriptorium (5 per promotion). It's in the same screen where you promote your villagers with money, just scroll all the way down.

mine just wont go green inside i don't get it lol
A cloister is basically an enclosed area. When you have the conditions active in build mode you should be able to see it go away.

However once you start building it then errors will pop up saying things like no interior access, etc. Which is why it is good to build extra doors first before adding the cloister.

Depending upon how large the cloister is it can take forever for it to finish, and if you designed it wrong then it cannot ever be finished building unless you edit it to add doors to get to certain spots.

Enclosured cloisters are one of them things lots of people struggle with the first time around. There should be a couple topics that were really good information wise.

I never had an issue with these in EA for years, but if you check my screen shot, i built a basic one of how it use to work but i cannot get the middle green(or blue whatever it switches to) which by all accounts it should be fine. entrance, rooms are correct and the middle is enclosed with enter into the middle ground via the garden entrance. I cant figure it out for some reason now lol

I searched on here for advice but most of it is from EA which is easy to build. Not sure what has changed

I built some massive monasteries in EA and if I remember right you needed to line up the cloister doors for entry into the area. The closed in area did not have to be all cloister parts, but you did need a minimum amount of cloister parts.

I have not done one yet since release though.

Basically it is something you want to save before building so you can roll back to do it differently until you figure out the mechanics to it.
