How to edit city walls?

Is there a way to edit already built city walls without most of it being rebuilt. I want to put in another gate, but taking out one segment seems to make most of the rest of the wall needing to be rebuilt, which also caused medium density building not longer being fortified.

When you edit the wall, you can only delete a part between two nodes.

But be ware it can also bug out.

Also, any houses that have upgraded that relied on the fortification will no longer have the fortification buff while the wall is being rebuilt. You can possibly lose people if it takes too long to rebuild.

Have tried to remove parts between two nodes, but it seems to slightly alter more of the wall, which leads to it being rebuilt. And as Raja says the fortification buff is removed while the rebuild happens.

The walls are pretty jank in this game. In most games like this, if you place a gate on a wall, it cuts out the wall and makes the gate. In this one, it'll build the gate overtop of the wall. It's an odd choice, for sure.

Yea been having the same issues with walls too if I wanted to put in a second backdoor gate on the opposite side.
