Mine was a long bridge too, I redone it 5 times, by changing the start and end locations. without a ramp, and it worked.
It my have some n.i.g.g.l.e.s. with these start/endpoint and the pathing IMHO
EDIT: Why is n.i.g.g.l.e a bad word?
Using the forbidden paint brush is the best way to form new paths.
You also have to be careful because forming new paths can lead to old path being ignored and the roads disappearing (such as the roads the bridge builders made that disappeared.)
For me this wouldn't have been a problem, just that they only assigned one worker at a time to build the largest stone bridge sp the paths disappeared in the meantime lmao. I had a bridge connecting a longer route for the citizens to take while the new one was constructing but when I deleted it they never went over the new bridge at all. Economy ♥♥♥♥♥♥, restart.
Firstly, make sure it only goes through your territory, even in the middle.
Second, if people are using a bridge but it blocks at the end, start moving the end by a nibble to the left or right (you do not need to rebuild the whole bride).
The first time I built the stone bridge they walked onto the first ramp part then just stood there. I moved it a bit and it still did not work.
