Having trouble with bread production
I have three farms with max workers, and yet I can't produce enough bread to satisfy the needs of my citizens. Am I supposed to have a ton of farms? Or am I maybe not setting up the supply chain correctly?

How many bread makers do you have? How many villagers? How large are your wheat fields? Where is the problem . . . is it producing enough wheat, milling enough flour, or baking enough bread from the vast stores of wheat and flour you have?

Need more information.
The three wheat fields are at adequate capacity for three farmers. The problem is it seems like I'm not getting enough wheat - the mill is maxed on workers but always getting the low on supply symbol, cascading into always having a low supply of bread. This has been going on since I started using the farm, so maybe when I had about 30 or 40 population? So I'm not sure if either I'm supposed to be spamming farms or setting things up different than they are now. Or even just a broader question of "what is the optimal way to set up the farm supply chain".

It's busted, yield output needs to be patched

be sure that you have wheat close to a storage. I had same issue. turn out wheat wasn't move fast enought

It's a balancing issue, I'm sure it will be patched. Single sack of flour requires too much wheat hence no matter how big farms you build if you have more than 200 peeps you'll never be able to feed them. Apparently the game was tested with "multiple" refined foods so they expected you to build farms and hunters at the same time so it can balance a little. But still... I have 5 farms with max upgrade (5 farmers in each) and adequate size. I still have low bread in my 180 serf town :(

Same for me i got like 4 wheat farms and 2 maxxed mills and one bakery, barely keeping up the minimum...
I also believe this must be bugged or unbalanced. I had two improved (10 workers total) field harvests and 0 wheat in stock and 5 bread made. Something is wrong here... I might be missing something, maybe some more bread will be made, but this just seems soo unbalanced.

that explaines it.. I also started to question my self with multiple big fields still running low on wheat and flour permanently... hope this gets fixed soon. Hunting seems to be more annoying then that too...
Me too, good to know why. Bring on the patch. :-)
3 fully staffed farms right next to the fields. Slio for wheat right next to the farms. 1 fully staffed mill. Silo for flour right next to it. 1 bakery in town, fully staffed, we'll right next to it. Having 70 villagers, like 10 of them commoners. Never ran out of bread, lowest storage like 40 bread. I don't know, if this is balanced, but it works well. The Devs actually tell you 2 farms, 1 Mill, 1 Bakery ratio.

Let's see you around 200 people. At the beginning I also thought it was enough but after it gets crowded, the Wheat / Flour imbalance is becoming real.

Yeah, I was thinking the same, but then I maybe just expand the bread production? In which city builder your set up for 70 people is enough for 200 people aswell? Maybe I will buy some extra flour, maybe not. I will see. Just wanted to contribute my experience. And people above weren't at 200 people either.
Foundation is deceptive when it comes to production. You have to take in account distances traveled to home,,,, stockpiles, market stalls, church, etc.

Yes the game does use a "once at work work 8 hours" mechanic. But the problem is workers running around doing all that other stuff can take more than 16 hours so to speak and your production is off.

Also keep in mind running out of stuff in the market causes people to check back again later the next day. Which also wastes a bunch of time.

Wise words. Finally. Stop the "the balance is all ♥♥♥♥" talk.

thats the point.. we expaneded already and its still not even catching up. I have around 5 maxxed farms with close by granary full staff.. and still nowhere near closing the gap required... looks like i need double the amounts of farms.. it just doesnt make sense.... i will need 2-3 more territorys just to cover the wheat farms + new housing for all the s taff.. just to cover the needs...
