Question about Manors
So in one quest, I need a manor with a Great Hall, for another quest I need a tax office. Do I need to build multiple Manors or can one Manor hold all the offices I need?

no, you don't need multiple Manors, you can add tax office and other building to you Manor house, same goes with many other buildings, you can just add stuff. there is a plus button at the bottom which opens new window where you select what type of building extension you want to add

You can edit the existing manor, then at the bottom where it says "great hall" there is a + to add a new function.
Set it to tax office, then select it (important step that many people seem to be missing, it will tell you on the right details about the currently selected function so you can double-check) and build the part(s) you want for it.

You will be building other manors at some point though, because your tax office won't be able to cover the entire map.
I'm a bit confused though, I need a great Hall AND a Bailiffs office to assign a Bailiff, but can only have one or the other?
Okay I think I got it...I have to build multiple buildings or towers for each of the 'offices' that will be operating in the Manor?

It's not necessarily multiple for each function, parts large enough or tall enough can give you the space for the worker(s) in one part.
Okay, I managed to get it set with the multiple offices. My Manor looks like a dogs breakfast, but this is my first play through. I know better for next time. Thanks for the help all.

I'm having the same issue, I just don't understand the manor. If I need a baliff office, why isn't there a room called "baliff office"? If I need a tax office, why isn't there a room called "tax office"?

The whole thing is just confusing to me.

It is one of the unique points of this game, the fact that you can make several of those buildings from basic blocks.
Take a few minutes to learn how it works because there are a decent amount of buildings in this game that work with this system.

Well the issue I'm having is that I don't understand how it works. It just tells me to make this building appear somehow but doesn't clearly explain how I'm supposed to do it.

This has been an issue with the tutorial even during early access, and they haven't managed to make it better (changing the system once and the UI twice for the whole thing also doesn't help since old posts no longer apply).

Basically, you pick a function (either when making the first portion of the building or with the + button in the edit mode) then build some parts.
On the right of the portion with the various parts you can use, it tells you the requirements and stats of the currently selected function.

In most cases you just need a large/tall enough part to function properly (get an employee slot there), as well as an access to a door leading outside (either in the function just by connecting the parts to parts from other functions that do lead to a door).

You can of course add decorative parts or more building parts if you want to, and you unlock more parts as you progress.

Something to note is that the yellow star-looking stuff on the parts (orange or grey-ish blue as well for other buildings) are for the progression, but you also need to be careful about the running costs because some parts cost monthly gold as well.

And that's pretty much it, it might look overly complex at first but it really isn't all that bad once you take a few minutes to learn how it works (which can also be done through trial and error if the UI doesn't speak to you).

OMG, I almost died laughing.
I have never heard the expression "looks like a dog's breakfast" (and have been on the planet for a while now). I will need to use that in the future.
8-)

Not trying to be mean, but it's because you dont understand how it works.

Plop down a great hall. pick the room you like, add a door.
Now click on that building and there is like a hammer icon. should be white. hover over it says EDIT.
click it, You will see a list of the buildings on the left of the pop up, right now you should have GREAT HALL. At the bottom right of that area, to the right (on the 1st section before the icons for buildings) there is white + icon. click that now pick which new function you want. for example, now its a good time to pick a tax office. Pick a room size you want and stick it to the great hall. it should pick up room access if you put in on a white snap point. Build it.
You can build a tower now for light fortification and if you do a ballif office the same way, you wont need another tower.

same for the tavern, keeps and monistary. you can add to the main building to keep them together and keep expanding it as you need it.

To be honest that little + icon is kinda hard to see if you don't know what your looking for, it really should be more obvious

This seems to be a pattern.

Part of this is on the game developer if players are having trouble understanding how a system works. It's a neat concept but it's not very intuitive. Maybe instead of choosing the functionality / role first, the parts could be added and the role set once completed.

Why does a room need to be rebuilt to change it's role or purpose?
