Military question, more than 5 soldiers?

Dear Founders, I am confused. I have started a new game wanting to go with the military path, but I can only create one warband. Is that on purpose or am I missing somethin? I set them on patrol, my houses upgraded all nicely, but when I wanted to do the first mission, all houses downgraded again (since the patrol was missing) and the settlement kind of failed. Can you create more than one warband, ergo more than 5 soldiers? Am I blind and missing the needed button? Thanks in advance :)

You can unlock the various encampments under the kingdom path and build multiples of them for more soldier companies
