Game freeze?!?

Not sure if it is about my PC (not the latest of machine), but the game run smoothly the majority of time, seems like it is not about specification but more some video settings adjustment.
When it happens the game just freezes and go back to desktop, the icon is still in the toolbar so it's not a crash. But I am not able to restore the window, so I need to terminate it and reload (quite annoying). It seems the most of the time it happens when zooming out, but it's quite random.
I wonder if someone encountered similar issues and find a way to resolve.
I messed around a little with video settings, lowering them but still this happens.

same issue but found no way to handle it. I can just say it´s often happens when iam in the map view. btw right now thats the case. the musik of the game is still playing but i cannot open the ingame window. Now i have to force crash it by task manager.

I've decided I just need to avoid using the map view in general. The same thing happens to me when I open it about.. maybe one in ten times I try to use the map. My monitor goes into standby and, once I'm able to open task manager or alt-tab, I get a popup about an AMD driver timeout.

yes same issue. Drivers are up to date so it must be a game issue.
