How do I put a fortification gate on an already built fortification wall?

It is actually somewhat easy to do.
Click edit on the wall building.
Click on the specific wall, then click the + sign which divides the wall in two.
Click one of the newly created section and use the + again.
Delete the middle section with the shovel.
Place the gate and attach the two newly crated points to it.
Then click apply.

Keep in mind editing the walls is something you want to avoid doing because depending how you placed the wall it can require rebuilding large or all of the walls. The way to avoid this is place a wall section then back out and click to place another wall, chain placing the points cause the all the walls placed in the chain session to be edit if you edit any of them.

You don't. Place the gate and snap the walls to each end.
So I have to tear down the whole wall just to put up a gate? That's obscene.

this is why you use many waypoints in your walls instead of making long sections

Thank you Bored Peon that worked great, it was a little fiddly but I eventually was able to place a gate and have the snap points show up on both sides of the gate.

No problem. Just one warning. before editing your fortification walls make sure you save and have enough materials to rebuild them. Like I said if you did not make it sectional and did a quick placement box it edits all the walls at once. Then your builders can take forever or missing materials and your houses downgrade while the fortification is missing. Short sections can be edited without houses downgrading.

I learned to do this as I expanded territories and moved, removed, and created walls. Kinda of hard to explain but once it happens you figure it quickly.

Something like : "My neighbor took down his flowers, quickly I have to destroy my beautiful house and build a straw hut instead". ?

the plus sign only appears at the ends of the wall section for me. how do I insert a gate in the middle of it without drawing all of it from scratch?

You need to click on the wall section so you can divide in half with the + sign.
