Why miners go to a wrong Iron Ore deposit?
I set up Tools production just fine:
  • 1 miners camp
  • 1 coal producer building
  • 1 smelter
  • 1 smithy

It worked fine for a time, but I noticed that my miners produce iron ore slowly.
So naturally I decided to expand and add a second miners camp, for I had another ore deposit on the other side of my settlement.

But for some reason, miners from the second camp go for the same iron deposit as the first camp, completely ignoring iron ore deposit that is right in front of them.
It becomes a bit ridiculous — they go all the way to the first iron ore deposit, mine ore there and transfer it to their camp throught the whole village...

I tried rebuilding that second miners camp several times, changing it position, nothing helped. I even tried to move it to my third iron ore deposit, but the result was the same.
All of those 3 iron ore deposits are on my land... I am not sure what is wrong.

I have never seen iron deposits on the ground. Is it EA?

Only 2 miners can be on a small iron node at a time. If both sides are occupied when a 3rd miner goes looking for work, they'll find it at a different node.

They look like stone, but if you zoom in you can see the red.
They are new with the 1.0 release.

Definitely something strange. Never seen them ignore a closer one before with stone camps unless it had the max amount of workers already.

That is because you have overcrowded needs and they are traveling somewhere farther to fill needs. Markets, churches, wells. are overcrowded.

Hi,
that is a low production and there is not a lot of solution ...
When you move the miners camp after exhaustion of the first one near the next iron node , they loose time because they are more far away from the village...
Just put your warenhouse on "take the maximum" give somes priorities...
Also that is for that than the taxes on mines was bugged on the other mines , because they worked fine on the "moving" miner'camps ^^

The problem I find puzzling is specifically that all 4 miners from 2 camps try to work on a single Iron Ore deposit — even when the second camp literally stays near the second camp. It is like they are allowed to work only on a single specific Iron Ore deposit. Like other deposits aren't detected

Silly question, perhaps, but are you certain both nodes are Iron? They look extremely similar. You wouldn't be the first person wanting Miners to pull Iron from a Stone node (and vice-versa).

When you select the iron mining camp, does the little 'iron' icon appear above both nodes?

And, of course, are both nodes in you territory?

Yes, as can be seen on screenshots, both are iron, and both on my territory. (I attached screenshots in the first comment)

Doh. I missed the links (too spoiled seeing Steam screenshots, I guess).

I've built them before as you have, and they've worked. I don't know why they wouldn't each just go to the nearest node. I'm sorry, but I got nothing. :(

Just set up two camps near the same deposit, they still ignore the deposit.
They go to work on a different deposit, and completely ignore the one on a screenshot.

Just in case anyone wondering, Map Code is
51MxCU1SLcE0b
The one on the left works. The one on the right doesn't (I deleted miners camp before taking this screenshot):

Is it possible that you at some point have painted a forbidden zone over it?

Do you need to paint the extraction zone? I havent played the latest patch yet.
