New Swordsmen company won't equip swords?

My weaponsmiths have been faithfully cranking out 40+ bows, swords and spears. The Armory stocks them all plus rations. My courtier invites 5 militia who I use to form a sword company. My spearmen grab spears, the bowmen grab bows, but the swordsmen simply will not do it. They have the tier 1 iron sword selected. Not sure what to do here...

The entrance to your swordcompanys HQ is probably blocked. Check, if the arrow is red or white.

(I assume that you have selected swords for them, have selected the right swords, have the right swords in stock, haven't set "pile up" to swords)

I was pretty sure that this would have been the problem. Why? Have been there myself!
