Do villagers move?
I was wondering, if i zone some new residental, which would allow a villager to be able to live a lot closer to work, will the move there instead?

If so, will villagers move to occupied buildings as well? I.e, villager A works close to villager B, and B works close to A, will they just trade living space?

If no.. Is the best option just to demolish buildings with people living far away from work to optimize?

They will move if their workplace is about 250m+ away from their current home

Please make it closer, I have a guy who lives 150m away from work when there's a vacant house across the street from his work.

Zone the new plot near their workplaces, then boot them out of their existing house. They soon move in to the new plot :)

Villagers don't move on their own unless their (new) job location is more than 150m (EDIT: 250m?) away from their home.

However, if they are evicted from their home, they will re-home themselves into the house closest to where they work. (NOTE: Eviction causes a temporary unhappiness event.)

Instead of demolishing buildings, strategically evict villagers.

Hm. Haven't seen an evict option, i'm gonna have to look for it. I've just got to the point where i'm majorly reshaping my village so i'm not at the point of optimization yet, but i figured it would be nice to know how much i need to think about it myself. Thanks for replies :)

when you open the house view you have the portrait of the resident. mouse your cursor over a portrait and then you can evict

... and then ignore that it says "Dismiss from Workplace". As long as you've selected their House, it really means to evict them from their home.
