Game won't start
My game won't start. I can't play. I uninstalled and reinstalled but that didn't fix it. I didn't have any problems prior to the update.
When I click on start from the steam library, it says it running but the game doesn't start. I try to stop it from running and that doesn't work. It doesn't even show up in task manager so I can close the game.....

THE ONLY WAY TO SHUT THE GAME DOWN IS TO RESTART MY COMPUTER!!

Where is the Dev? Don't you care?

Added to all that, my computer just came back from Dell repair center with almost all new parts. Tech support updated every single driver. That was 2 weeks ago. So it's all running great. What's the problem? I don't know how to fix it.???

You might find more help in the 'Technical Support' forum. If applicable, maybe throw your coin into this well:

I already tried that and have gotten no help.

That's about the best I can do from here. Have you gotten on their Discord channel or emailed them?

Please send us an email with your issue to support@polymorph.games

With the email please also include:
1) A Dxdiag report - In the Windows Search box on the toolbar, enter dxdiag. Then select dxdiag from the list of results. Wait for the green bar to finish, then save the file and send over to us.
2) The foundation.log file found here: \Documents\Polymorph Games\Foundation

I don't get why the dev can't show up here on Steam. since this is where his game is sold and address these issues? Why do the players have to go out of their way to get help when the problem occurred after his game update?

Well, I guess that's not all I can do. But my recommendations are random, and I certainly don't expect them to resolve anything. My personal style of troubleshooting is to try anything and everything. I just poke around until something jumps out at me.

Uninstall and delete all files manually.
Reinstall on a different drive.
Use a different Internet connection.
Disable Firewall and Antivirus software.
Close all other applications and background applications.
Restart in safe mode.
Play in offline mode.
Launch from outside Steam using the executable.
Launch the executable in Admin mode.
Change the version of DX used.
Change the display resolution.
Change the display bit depth.
Change the display frequency.
Change the game's settings in the graphics card's app.
Roll back to a previous driver version.
Roll back to the previous_version of Foundation.

To be fair, development and tech support usually aren't done by the same team. And, if the developers are in Discord/Steam doing support, they're not developing. That's my 2 cents on it, at least.

- Are you sure the game isn't running minimized?

- Does it show up on the start bar?

- Can you try and Alt+Tab to it?

- Using any mods? if so try removing them.

- Is there some other software running on the laptop conflicting with the game and forcing it to open minimized or blocking it from launching properly?

- You say you just got it back from Dell repair, was that before or after the latest update to Foundation?

- When was Foundation last working, was that before or after you got it back from Dell?

There are a lot of things that could cause the issue you're describing and may have nothing to do with the game itself.

Depending on how technically minded you are you could try checking the games log file. I believe its stored in:
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Polymorph Games\Foundation\Foundation.log

So i went to my documents and found the Polymorph folder and noticed I couldn't open a file that required One Drive. But I had disabled One Drive in startup because I don't like that program. But somehow Foundation had files connected to One Drive and I'm assuming that's what was stopping the game from running because when I deleted the entire Polymorph folder in my documents, the game started running again. Unreal how one little thing can disrupt so much. One Drive is such an aggressive program. Like the One Ring to rule them all.

Thanks everyone for the help and advice. And my sincere apologies to the devs for thinking it was their fault. I'm so sorry.

I see you have been awarded a Warm Heart award. Perhaps for your very thoughtful response?

I have OneDrive disabled.
I can play fine.

I have Onedrive but I define what it can/can't upload to the cloud. The issue is when you leave it on its default settings because it moves a lot of files to cloud storage.

An award never occurred to me until you said something. Whereas I appreciate it, i guess awards don't mean as much to me as to other people. However, maybe i should rethink awards since it's obviously a way of meaningful communication on Steam. Thanks for the award to the person that gave it. :)
