Wheat fields not being fully planted? - Solved
I'm not sure if this is a bug, or a game mechanic I'm not aware of and falling foul of.

For a little while I had my bread production nicely balanced. Wheat in storage was sitting at around 300-500 depending on time of year, plenty of flour and bread. But lately everything has plummeted, I have no wheat available anymore?

When I was watching the farms they only ever seem to plant a third to a half of the field now? I read something about a game speed bug having some impact, so I've been running at normal speed, but no change!

I have three farms, one with 7 serfs, one with 5 and one with three, the fields all say adequately sized, and the farmers all live close by.

I have a large granary next to them to store the wheat with all slots assigned and fully staffed.

Across from that is the Windmill with 4 serfs. The baker is separate from this in town, but there is little to no wheat for the windmill to process, so no flour.

Anyone seen this before?

EDIT: as the comments below, this I think was ultimately down to a needs issue and possible design flaw. Still trying to satisfy the farming village needs, and moving the farm buildings more to the middle of the field (which I don;t like aesthetically). Still not perfect but I can see some improvement.

Hmm, 3 speed definitely breaks farms but you're not doing that. Have any of the farmers moved house? Or are they going miles for something outside work? Pick a farm that's doing poorly and follow the workers in their off time. Mine were walking miles to have a sit down, adding closer benches helps - benches are brilliant all over the place.

Do you have wheat barns on any of the farms? They provide overflow storage if the granary or windmill is collecting slowly - doesn't matter where they are on the farm, put them closest to the windmill or granary so they provide quicker collection.

Thanks for that - I've literally just been doing that and watching them, I think it was a food thing. Just realised their nearest market is in town, miles away! I'm busy building up food storage and a market in the farming village. I'm hoping that improves things not having them away from the farm because they have to walk miles for food!

Its why I posted here, instead of complaining about a bug. 😉 These types of games have so many complex interactions, sometimes the fun is figuring it out. ;)

Didn't think about the benches though! Good tip, I'll look to start liberally sprinkling them about. Cheers,
