Demo version more recent than EA?
Hi folks,

I played the demo of this the other day, loved it and bought a copy (not on steam).

There's a clear difference between the two, the UI being one of them. Is the demo older or newer than the EA version right now?

I'd assume it was older, but the UI in the demo is far better and the EA version I have (on GoG) looks a lot more complex and "boring" so to speak.

Great game either way. Can't wait to play again!

Yes, the devs didn't want to update the early access build and leave all of the changes to the release version in one go (supposed to be released on the 31st of January).
They decided to still release the demo nearly 2 months ahead of that release, so the demo is ahead of the early access version.

There should be a message saying this at the start of the demo, but since it is unusual many people bought the game unaware of this (most because they didn't pay attention to the message since that message usually says "content subject to change" or things like that so most people just skip it).

Yes the demo is the more finished version instead of doing the usual way of making the paid version the most recent version closest to the final version sadly.

I think they could have done a better job to outline that they demo is much newer than the EA version, cause now it just says that they are "very different versions" , i can easily believe people see that and think oh that means the EA is newer version(since EA tends to be the most advanced till release cause paid)

This is a dumb choice. Why are people who paid for it not able to experience what is coming up?

Yup, usually the EA paying customers version is the most advanced version but they obviously must have had a reason in their mind to do it this way even after (reportedly by other players) a year of not updating the paid for game. Have the devs actually said why they pushed the demo with the new graphics, features etc, instead of at long last updated the EA paid for version or even both?

i dont think they have said anything except maybe to "get feedback" which... idk why you would not put that in EA to get feedback and also please the people that have supported you, i would personally like to see them actually Address this since plenty of ppl that supported this in EA are upset with how they handled things and even some new ppl are upset by it cause they buy the game wanting to play the EA and finding out its like a year behind.

I know I am being special and whiney
I really enjoy this game and is the city builder I have been looking for, so much better than it's ilk. With the advent of the demo, which I loved, I want more; I want update in the EA (I know it is bad). I know this is a 1st world problem; but I would love that update in EA.

All I can say to the dev is keep it up, you have a very good game.

EA VS DEMO WTH???
Why not reward the ones who bought Early Access with the Demo version?
Why make it separate? I'm very disappointed with this

Just wanna say you guys have a very good way of ruining your reputation. This is bad move
You guys sucks

the demo is FREE ? - just download it. And: yes it's a demo, it has only limited content. the EA version has more (content). And you get the game for free if you bought the EA so ... wtf is your problem?

The point he is making is there should have been an update to the EA that doesnt have 90% of the stuff locked like the demo, the Demo is a very bad move reputation wise, its a good financial one cause it tricked plenty of ppl to buy the game before release, but Rep wise its bad, EA buyers have been ignored for a year with no updates and now they get a "free demo" that has everything locked behind buying the game, EA should have been the most "advanced" version of the game till release, this way its just kind of a f you to people that supported them through EA.

Some of you really need to chill out. Just be patient

Thanks all.

Whilst I can appreciate the irritation caused, it only makes me somewhat look forward to January 31st, because the Demo version felt a lot better than what I played in the EA version. It seemed a lot more polished and everything was just easier to read/understand.

Thanks again!

I really liked getting a preview of the upcoming release via a Demo. I actually put in more than 20 hours in the game. It was challenging with a few bugs and having most features inaccessible. However I look forward to the full release and what it can bring in game play. I am apprehensive about losing the EA version. I really love playing it. It is so relaxing. I like both versions but for different reasons. I am hoping the released version casual feature (not obtainable right now) will be as relaxing.

I don't think that's what he is saying. It sounds like he does not understand that anyone, including those of us with the EA version, can download (for free) the new and separate program to play the demo.

There is no "f you" to anyone. It's just a matter of being patient until we get the full release around January 31st. For those of you, who are experiencing such bizarre reactions: Just pretend you know nothing about the demo, don't download it, don't play it. It never existed in your mind. And then, just as we have been normally and patiently waiting for the full release, suddenly it comes on January 31st. Done. Why all this hate and jealousy that non-EA-veterans are allowed to play the demo? (That's what it sounds like.) "Chill," as another poster above has said.
