@Maxe: Assuming the above is actually the problem, this is what you need to do;
Once trade route it open, you need the have a warehouse that accepts what ever it is you want to trade. In this case it's tools. Then you want to go to the resources overview (somewhere in the tabs menu).
Somewhere in that overview is the tools resource. There's a few things you can do with tools from here. Looks through your options. If it looks like a button or a scribble in the same row then hover the mouse over it to investigate it. Description pop up's will appear to tel you what they do. For now, you will need to set an amount limit and how many you want to store (so you won't trade for more than you want or sell to much when the time comes) and you'll want to set the resource to buying. I can't remember if you can set it to buy AND sell at the same time.
Do all of that and you SHOULD be able to trade. You need 70 ccoins to trade for ten tools, initially and in vanilla.
If you get to a point in the game where you run out of tools, cannot produce them and cannot afford to buy them, you pretty much have to start all over again.
... It's not? Isn't trading for tools part of the tutorial, explaining step-by-step how to achieve that, or do I misremember that?
EDIT: Started a new game, "Coast" procedural again. First trader don't sells tools.
EDIT2: Strange thing, I bought (10) tools although the 2nd trader isn't "opened" yet. Sorry, can't find the right word in english.
I can assure you the 1st trader 100% sells tools in a vanilla game ;)
Ah, now that makes everything clear :) Thanks.
