Soldiers en Knights

How do i get soldiers and knights?
Currently got about 25 militian. 16 of then are lvl 5 militian and lvl 6 in there job. (still dont get that one either)
I still cannot upgrade them to soldiers.
I have read you can only have 1 knight for each 5 soldiers you have. But they have to become lvl 10. Meanwhile they r all stuck at there lvl 6.

all posts I find do not give enough info or are 3-4 years old.

You need to have them max level as you do and have all their needs met, click on one of them and check which need is actually missing preventing promotions.

Note you need both the basic and additional needs met

Do you have training dummies? That will greatly speed up the process.

You just promote them like you would a normal serf to commoner or nun to sister in the bailiff mandates

They complain about housing. When I have over it the say it can be normals houses or barracks. I have made about 7*8 barracks and allowed homes to be build around my castle. The homes are now being used by villagers and my militia still complain about having no home....

Is that fortress all one monument with sub-buildings or is it comprised of more than one monument?

It is 1 building with subbuildings

It's a little difficult to tell from that screen, can you screen shot the promotions tab. I see you have upgraded houses on your main island. Maybe beautify those houses closest to your keep and barracks?

It looks like a sizeable village. Just curious if you're using any mods?

I don't use mods, but I do occasionally have soldiers live in villager housing even though I have ample barracks space. I kick the soldiers out of the houses and sometimes they move to the barracks or sometimes just another house.

so, whats the error i made??

got 26 soldiers in total. Ech time getting back with a bit of loot.... and it is laughable how much i get.... not worth it to make castles atm...

Cant upgrade militians

All militians all needs are satisfied. But still i cannot upgrade any of them to soldier.
I got a great hall, They have homes -barracks or a normal home-. they are happy with food
I have 1 castle with about 25 militians. All buildings are part of the same structure.

Have you been sending them out on missions? Unless you do they won’t gain experience and therefore will not be able to upgrade.

they are level 6 in militians, and lvl 5 in the barrack. I have done everything so far. even rebuilding the great hall. nobody is able to help me in the regular forum.

as mentioned, all needs are satisfied. all lvl requerements met. everything is correct. they even all got spears i got collected from allt he missions I have done
