Hunters won't Hunt

I have a hunter hut near a forest with three boar icons in it. The hunter just stays in the hut. Any idea why?
Previously I had two hunter huts, and the hunters walked all the way around the forest and entered near the back. I got sick of this waste of time and blocked their road. There's no reason why they can't enter the near side of the forest. It's zoned for hunting and contains boar. I tried destroying the huts and put up a new one hoping it would reset the preferred route, but the hunter still won't hunt. My people are getting hungry and I can't fathom why my hunter is so stupid.

I have forgotten once to zone additional area for hunting. There is a specific color to zone forested area, to tell your hunters to hunt there. Check to see if you colored the area where you see boar symbols ... I believe the color is a yellow-ish or golden color. I'm also not sure how far the hunters can go to hunt, from the hunter's lodge where they work. So make sure the area you color somewhat surrounds their hunter's lodge.

Strange. Can you give us an image or two. Maybe that will help us, to help you.

Have you maybe also zoned the same forest as extraction or reforestation as those zones remove the hunting one and don't overlap it.

3 boar symbols are way too few for consistent production btw, you should densify the forest with a forester first before marking it with hunting zone.

Otherwise please post a couple of screenshots or the save file for us to check on it :)

I build my hunters hut in the centre of an area where boars or densely located. I place orange hunting zones on each of the boar packs, ensuring that those areas have not already been zoned for crops, reforestation, extraction or residential use - so hunters tend to be on the edge of other zones. You do have to revisit hunting zones (depending on the size of your zones) as boar packs do move, so you may need to re-zone occasionally
