Tavern-taxation preview
Generated fluvial map, no mods.

First impression: announcement screens have been redesigned - a bit too cute for me. But where did you get my portrait for the "bad weather coming" warning?

Second impression: cards have been reshuffled, sometimes a lot, for the common and labor paths. No big drama, though; you'll have to rethink the early game strategy (very good) but the middle and late game are more or less the same.

Some other changes:
- promotions always available: the greatest of all them all, eliminates the tedious waiting. Also makes juggling bailiff's jobs much more interesting.
- the gin joint (also known as the tavern) and its new brewery actually work, for the first time since I've played the game. Now almost everybody can be drunk all the time.
- levies: just don't touch them. But 69? Did they know that number in the Middle Ages?
- the new trade route: very profitable. Building a monastery ASAP is even more important than before.
- the hunter/butcher combo: meat is good to have, but the kitchen becomes available much later. You can also sell and export it.
- ETA: finally noticed that there are no warnings while building a (rustic) cloister. Great if that's true for all of them.

And finally: A MIRACLE!

Hello,
So now, i f i well understood , it was no more possible To try to have the 3 difficult aspirations in the same game ?
Cos it took me a while to understand why i don't get the quest to build a tax-collector...
So if you choose the Clergyin first , you will just win money with trading ?
Or the gentry, to have enought soldiers to win money in missiosn?

The short answer: no.

The long answer:
Labor:
- basic: 100 citizens: incompatible with clergy/hard
- hard: never trade: was doable before but progress was very slow. You must have taxes so ...
Kingdom:
- basic: King's pledge
- hard: 100 swords sold in a month
Never tried this after I got achievements a while ago; now I only use basic fort with 20 soldiers, or not even that. I guess it could be combined with others but I am not sure.
Clergy:
- basic: abbatial church
- hard: never promote a villager: incompatible with labor/basic
There are still quite a few serf and novice jobs left but, of course, exporting the results doesn't bring in as much coin as the more advanced ones - though planks and herbs alone can bring enough for comfortable survival.

i doubt that the changes in tavern taxation will change the fact that it is very much possible to get all aspirations in the 1 map. takes time, yes, but definitely possible. i did it in the 1 map during the 1.9 preview, then again after the preview went live, wasnt a problem at all.

As the devs said, a bit paraphrased:

This is a build to validate a few design concepts. Nothing has been properly hooked, tested or debugged. The idea was to expose possible changes and ideas to the public to get feedback on those changes. There could be side effects to those changes that we may or may not be aware of, that being said this is a prototype. We are exposing ideas to the community in a very unpolished and not final state.

It is likely that with these changes completing all 3 hard aspirations in a single game is currently not possible, but that doesn't mean it will stay as such.

This is NOT a preview build about to hit live. This is work in progress in a very early stage.

Ok! Ok !Ok! i guessed why i loosing money without i can't do anything...
But now my problem was to me : What to choose in first and how i could may try to minimize the rates between the factions...
Anyways , for the fun , i will just to try to test every faction to see what the effects may done..
Just more one thing , that seems that starting from an island was very difficult now...

Labor and clergy paths combined are quite enjoyful once you have the "Devoted Folks/All Faithful" privileges combo. The only real new problem is for people like me, those who build too much (and always have and will).

That cross used 2 magnets with opposite poles for levitation. There are probably small wires to keep it in place.

I see. Obviously, the little people are far more advanced than I thought they were.

Hello,
About the crosses, it is new "bug" because before they don't want to levitate !^^
Pops Mar 29, 2023 @ 8:13am
the crosses have levitated since early on so isnt a new bug. best to place the crosses after the bell towers etc are built to avoid them levitating

OK, i follow this advice...

I think it's now impossible to do the hard Labour and Clergy aspirations on the same map with the experimental build. The hard Kingdom aspiration is always easy. Just upgrade the trade route that buys swords to at least level 2, store 100 swords from military victories, and sell them all.

I also get levitating crosses on the bell tower.

The cross was added some time after the church was finished, together with "cemetery" (I needed points and it also looks good), so that didn't help in my case - but I don't mind; actually, I rather like it.

Reached the late game, just waiting for the last masterpiece (automated fountain) to be finished. Final (more or less) data: 340 villagers, 5 unemployed, 48 nuns, 47 monks; about 500+ gold coins/month; happiness around 85%.

A panorama of the first village with the castle/treasury and the two monasteries; two more villages down the river. I reserved space for a military fort next to the castle and then forgot all about it; still empty - now it's rather too late to start an army.

A bit harder than before, but not really. Most new features (promotions, new trade route, etc.) work fine; tavern with the new brewery works but is buggy. Some old problems remain.
