How to raise faith/religion?

So I've built two churches low level, and one very large stone church with the works, my peeps still have very low faith fulfillment though. What am I doing wrong?

You need to make sure you have enough attendance slots (not size!) for all your villagers, check your churches and sum up the number of attendance slots they all have, then check how many Serf+ villagers you have in your village.

I had similar issues. As Minotorious said, you need to have enough space for all your villagers. When building a church, generally the core or extensions count against space (from what I have gathered so far). the towers and all the nice other buildings are just decorative.
