Wheat Farms not growing a lot.

My Wheat farms are only growing a small amount of the area they have for a cropzone. they only do about half of one click at max size. even of buy a new territory and put one farm on there give him the enter land to do they will still only do a small amount each? i took screen shots but dont know how to share them on here, any idea if i am doing something wrong before my villagers all leave they run out of food.

Be certain to put the Crop field in a good zone. You will see the fertility rating on the tool tip.

This can depends on the status and the distance to the farm of your farmers

I had the same problem, and my city was starving, then I could amass some gold and build a small village next to the wheat farms and when I pormoted every farmer to serf the wheat farms grew ALOT.

I had a problem for a while keeping up with wheat. When I force-moved my farmers to live close to their wheat farms, the numbers shot way up and now I have big excess. I noticed that before the farmers were close enough to the fields, they could never sow enough wheat to fill the field. After they moved I was able to increase the field sizes. Now it's too much, but better than not enough.

If they live too far away from their work they spend half their worktime getting there.

If only real life worked like that :)
