Understanding Splendor: Is there a clear guide on how to increase this?
I'm sure it's something I'm not doing properly, but I can't seem to get my Clergy and Town Splendor up to unlock the Commoner and Citizen levels.

I've got the right number of pops at each of those levels, but in those two categories I can't unlock the buildings because it has a red number next to (what I understand is) the Splendor rating.

I know you get Splendor from buildings/decorations and you get points for each group from doing quests.

But how can I increase the Clergy Splendor for example? Appreciate any and all responses!

First of all you don't need splendour to unlock the Commoner and Citizen ranks, you just need to fill all their needs and they will rank up.

To get splendour as you said you need to build buildings.

So for the Clergy you quite obviously you need to build Churches and Monasteries.
Then for the People you need Markets and Lord's Manors.
and last for the Kingdom you need Keeps.

Thanks, appreciate your reply. I've got a handle on the pop ranks, so yeah it's the buildings that aren't unlocking.

I've built two Churches so maybe I just need to build some more expansions. I was just reading a Reddit post that Splendor points are based on parts added to the building, not the number of said buildings. So for example the Clergy Splendor, if you have a super-basic church it gives only a few Splendor points, but with more expansions it gives more.

And I only have one Keep right now, so adding another one with the highest-Splendor roof should bump it up.

The splendour points are indicated on each part in the monument building menu so you know in advance what you will be getting

Thanks, Minotorious. I see that now that I've been working with them a bit more. It's actually pretty clear, if you're actually looking at it LOL

By the way, when does the Lord's manor unlock? I've only got as far as the group of iron-mining buildings. Oh! And fishing! When do I get fishing going? I'm on the Coastal map now and it's awesome, but I want to fish up some fishieeees! :D

You are not alone! It takes me 3 days and ~10 villages from 100 to 150 people to understand that I am doing something wrong and went to this discussions ;-)

It is really a quest to understand that it is not just picture, but button.
