For food production I've got 10 gathering huts, four windmills, two wheat farms, two bakers, four fishing huts, a market stall w/ three slots for fish, bread, and berries, and I'm also importing food (fish & bread) on top of wine and honey in other stalls - and I'm always on the razor's edge for food.
The same scenario plays out for clothing and wood too, as I stated, but at least I have the religion thing covered with two rustic churches (one VERY large) and an actual church too.
I'm starting to think that the lack of information concerning gameplay mechanics may be the what's holding most people back, as I'm fairly certain that the market stalls can only hold so much, like the warehouses, thus can't feed large populations. I'll need to build more of them all around the map and see if it helps. The problem is that this also means more citizens and I feel like the balance isn't where it needs to be yet, so you're chasing the dog's tail on this.
IMO the big issue is storage is too limited and production, during certain stages, is as well. The fact that we have cosmetic barrels, but no small storage containers that could be added onto markets, houses, etc., sort of seems odd as it would fit with the overall theme of the game and would give us a useful tool to boot. As for production, it just needs tweaking a bit.
