Wheat Farm Fields

I'm having problems with my farmers not utilizing the entire painted fields. Most are about two "brushes" wide. The under-utilization is not uniform among the fields. In prior iterations we were able to "reset" our fields which seemed to help then. Suggestions please. Am having a great time!

Each farm -- assuming three farmers per farm -- can plant only a certain maximum area. You can paint your field larger than that but they will just use that part of the painted area closest the farmhouse. So it looks like you have figured out how big that is.

The limit on what each workplace can hold has been reduced to 50 so any over that cannot be stored at the wheat farm. I have heard that one of the paint circles at max size is about the most the farmers can harvest.

Also harvest time is more limited as well now too.

Thanks you two: I will reduce the size to one "brush" and see how that works. As I have a granary to hold wheat, does that impact the 50 bushel maximum or does our fine electronic wizard only allow 50 bushels per growing season per farm (3 farmers each)? I think my crop on each farm is fully harvested each season but will try to watch that also.

The granary has no effect on growing, just on how much grain you can stock once it is harvested.

If a granary transporter got to the farm just in time to pick up some wheat mid harvest, I suppose it is possible to gather more. As always, distance matters for everyone involved. Distance to home, work and needs affect the length of time a villager can work.

Again, thanks for your thoughts. Granary centered among three farms all fully staffed. most live within 2 hexes and my markets/wells are within 2 hexes. I think my problem is more one of field size and needing more farms for my roughly 250 people.

2 hexes is actually quite a distance. I would suggest you follow one of these villagers and see how much time they actually spend working vs.travelling and fulfilling needs.
