Will this game be delisted or when, it's up to anyone's guess but the steep discount is probably an attempt to wring out as much money as possible from this game before taking it down, though there's been no announcement.
It's a lot more of a simulator than FH, meaning it's a lot harder with a much higher skill floor and I would seriously recommand playing it with at the minimum a controller and manual shifting.
Do buy the GOTY edition if you plan on getting it, for the extra content, the price difference isn't that big anyway.
Car brand licenses are structured a little differently than music licenses.
Also, and this is something we must not forget:
Dirt Rally 2 is still the official WRX / World RX game on the market. (That's also the reason why DR1 was delisted so far i know and the FIA would also have a say before the game is delisted)
It will probably also be given away soon somewhere. (Christmas, New Year etc) On Epic, Humble, Prime or something like that. It's 85% off, which is not uncommon for old games.
The price is also low because they have generally adjusted the store price over the years and don't do it like Microsoft, Ubisoft or some other publishers.
They "always" have their games on sale for 30-40% off, but then immediately put them back on the release price - they don't have any price drops, except for the little they give you in the sales with the same old games in them. In the meantime, they can still catch people who buy it at a totally overpriced price. Now, after the recent price increase to €70-140 at release, they are also more lenient and give more percentages so that you can get prices around €50-60 in the sale. xD
DR2.0 has been discounted multiple times around -75% or -80%-ish in the past couple of years, so I wouldn't be too alarmed about it (just) yet, but DR1 was early access release in Spring-ish (?) 2015 and was delisted around October 2022. So if we assume there is similar lifespan in mind, 2026+- might be realistic date before 2.0 might be delisted. But then again it could also be in 2025. Or maybe 2027. Nobody knows for sure besides the people who signed the contracts. And maybe those who need to know it in the companies.
As for the experience, 2.0 leans definitely more on the sim side no matter how lightweight it might be in some aspects or even comically dumb in others. Say, you cannot blow your engine simply going 5th gear -> 1st gear at top speed and sometimes you can survive absurd impacts with just mere scratches that would be DNF realistically, but it still (probably) gives you better idea about loose surface driving than most games do in (mostly) reasonable package especially at such discounted pricepoint. But then again there isn't much competition either and even some alternatives have their own mess of spaghetti to deal with.
If you do plan pick 2.0, just buy the GOTY edition. You will save a lot of headaches related to any of the DLC, and it does feature all the DLCs contrary to the store page shenanigans.
