How realistic do you drive?
heyall!
I've just looked through my DR2 achievements and was shocked to see, that according to my achievement, only 2.1% of us have won 10 stages without any kind driving aid (stability control, ABS, TC etc)...
I can hardly believe this, but I guess it's true.

so how hard/easy do you like your Dirt Rally 2?

(not trying to say you suck, if you play it safe, but I always thought rallye gamers like it rough =P)

so, I'm playing without any aid, but have normal damage.
I suck too much for high damage xD

If I'm not mistaken, this also includes things like the automatic wipers and the exterior views of the car for example.
I always have the exterior view on, because I drive with the hood view in the rain.

i must be around 50% assist on, and auto gearbox, i need to order a handbrake as i use one of the shifter right now. i started with averything on, and reduced a couple things already. i don't need even more challenge right now, i can already do so many things badly, but at the end of the road i expect to run with 0 help

okay, see I didn't know that. I don't use either of that (automatic wipers distract me somehow)
that also explains the very low number of only 2.1%.
I'm sure many use auto wipers and exterior view.

yeah, that's a good way to learn. that way you can focus on improving only one thing, instead of everything at once.

I drive as if it is my car within reason, so I lift off over jumps, rarely red line the engine, try not to cut corners and look after the car

The aliens do not
I'm driving with a keyboard, so those aids are pretty useful for me. Cauz no one wants turning around and around when driving a RWD car.:steamfacepalm:
From the first day I started I turn anything that helps off. Hud, assists whatever... Even in circuit racing I don't use traction control or abs even if the car has it in real life. I try to make the driving as hard as I possibly can. I just don't see the point otherwise.

My goal is to get the most hardcore and raw experience that I can.

oh of course, playing on keyboard without help must be annoying.

Amen!
at a certain point, you get good enough to be ready to suffer for real, "severe damage" for me - which also includes "severe parts-wear" like brakes, tyres, suspension.

As for driving-aids: as far as I am informed: no rally-rulebook allows for electronic aids of any kind as far as driving-dynamics are involved. And on loose surfaces: you would need ai-supported control-units to make a positive difference and surpass what you can do with just a pair of each: hands and feet.

I've tried playing with soft lock and H-pattern manual, but it's too much for me. It makes the game much more difficult. Right now I'm on semi auto, but I might try manual again.

325th Mt Kaye Pass, no aids. H-shifter with a clutch in VR. This is how I drive all the time...

I have to use auto clutch because I have no way of using handbrake and clutch at the same time.

I've never driven a car and had to learn how to drive with H-pattern and clutch xD
now, I've learned it and think the coolest feeling of playing any racing sim is heel & toe from top gear to lowest, while approaching a turn 🙃

All assists off, manual H-pattern, no HUD elements. Anything else is intrusive to my plays-tyle (using wheel/stick/3 pedals/VR).

yup, hud off is very important for me as well, or else I'll get too distracted 😵
