Do I get to race against other cars at same time in a Track?
Or is it only time trials where I dont see the other cars?

Another question ,
I notice DLC for example-
DiRT Rally 2.0 - Bikernieki, Latvia (Rallycross Track)

Do these add a new track with multiple cars on the track at once like I was interested in?

AND if so how many of these tracks are included in the GOTY edition of the game with seasons 1to 4?

You race against other cars in Rallycross, never in classic rally.

You should get the GOTY edition it has the best value purchase.

Thanks good answer

GOTY has all the content for both rally and rallcross, and it's much cheaper than buying DLCs individually. So you buy it and you have everything.

I am trying Grid legends first ,just bought that and installing now.

I will think further about Dirt rally 2 over night ,maybe I buy this next -
watched a few videos ,
reminds me of some old PS1 games I played a long time ago -
could be OK.
Just hope my poor arcade skills are up to the task.

This is more sim-oriented so it demands a little bit more attention to the driving though.

Its pretty tough. I did the first race in career and replayed the track like 6 times I could never get better than 26th place lol. I am using a wheel with no assists as well. Going to take some practice obviously.

Do you think a wheel makes it harder ? -

I was considering buying a wheel (for racing games in general) ;
and had a feeling it might make it harder to win -
I have a good feel for my x360 controller in comparison.

The difficulty of the game really depends the car you're driving as well as practice.

I can't tell for the wheel, it should be making it easier once you're used to it because it's more realistic, but you're definitely going to need a shifter as well because you can't play this game in automatic gearbox.

Will the wheel paddle shifting work OK -
since I could never drive manual in real life ,and would never be able to learn it for a game -
I probably could but I would be real clutzy.
I was thinking of just using Auto since that is how I play my other games.
I was not planning on getting a shifter as well.

So,
(1) Is auto a no go?
(2) Will paddle shift ,I assume with auto clutch ,be OK?
Emaulligu Jun 30, 2024 @ 10:53pm
That would work, yes.

I'm playing on a controller and the amount of performance I gained from switching from auto to manual is night and day. Even if I just use buttons to shift, getting control over the shifting and managing the gears yourself is a tremendous help.

One could just go sequential shifts, I don't believe a dedicated shifter is needed

also I scored my very first win on a career daily IA challenge on Las Juntas with automatic gearbox & unupgraded car

so while manual gearbox may bring time benefits I'm not actually sure it's 100% necessary ??

Maybe not necessary but at least recommended ?
I don't know, you do whatever.

a wheel is harder at first while you're getting used to it, it may take a while before you get the hang of it....
however the force feedback of decent wheels should give a much better feeling of the car & overall precision it offers is much greater compared to a controller.

although some godly controller users can almost match a wheel user in some racing games
it's always very tough mostly because of the lack of precision
(most wheels offer 360° of rotation or more compare that to a controller/joystick which may have between +/-16° up to +/-45° of travel, you can instantly understand one of the reasons why it's superior)

In any case, please remember that the control method doesn't automatically make a better driver.
on the shifter topic, having a real shifter may increase immersion so it may feel better but that's very personal, it also depends on the car you're driving and the racing game (since some cars have sequential shifters on the wheel itself)
