DiRT Rally 2.0 without Shifter & Handbrake?
I'm new to sim racing. I own a G29 wheel and pedals, but not the shifter. I want to get the DiRT Rally 2.0 but I want to know how the gear shifts will happen without the Shifter. Is the paddle shift in G29 steering wheel good enough? Also I don't have a hand brake. So will I be able to play DiRT Rally 2.0 without a Shifter and Handbrake?

Yes, you can use the paddles to shift (set transmission to sequential in options) and an assigned button on the wheel as a handbrake.

Depending on the wheel rotation setting, this might not be very comfortable though. You should be mostly fine with 540°, but if you choose to enable soft lock with 900°, then some things might get difficult. Ideally you would have a handbrake and a sequential shifter (or static paddles), but you can get by without those.

I have set 2 buttons to a handbrake on my wheel to make it easier to reach them depending on which way the turn is. Most people drive without a shifter and using paddles so you will be fine but if you get the money to buy one i very much recommend it since it adds more fun imo.
Im using AntiMicro to bind an extra button to handbrake since the game only allows one.

The two top red ones is the one i found to be easiest to reach but try to fiddle around to see what works best for you with your wheel. Ive seen some even use the clutch pedal as a handbrake so play around a little.

As mentioned above, you can shift gears using the paddle shifters. And if you get a G29, I would advise using 900° with soft lock. You wont need a handbrake at all, if you learn how to weight shift the cars. The handbrake is useful, but its a massive hindrance if you dont already understand how the car moves while your driving; and can cause you to over rotate very easily because of it. So dont worry about the handbrake, at least until you can drive the tighter corners and hairpins without needing a handbrake at all.

I drive using a Thrustmaster T300 RS-GT set to 1080° of rotation with soft lock turned on in Dirt Rally. Soft lock is a system in the game that automatically matches your wheel rotation (up to its maximum rotation value), to the car you are currently using. So if it is a 540° steering rotation car, your wheel will lock to that rotation while you are using it. If its 900° rotation car, your wheel will automatically match it. It really wont be an issue running the higher rotation cars once you practice with it and learn how to shift the weight to get to rotation you need. You will find you wont need to turn the wheel too much at all after learning the proper techniques.
