Maybe if you are running softs for multiple stages they can wear out and puncture. For me the grip falls off in stage 2 too much, so i never pushed them to 3 stages :)
First 2 short stages were absolutely fine, the third one and the fourth one were a bit slippery and the others were quite tough. They were still driveable but very very slippery. I was worrying about getting a puncture but did not happen, only lost a massive amount of time compared to a new set.
Something i have noticed is that if im cliping the edges of stages, not rocks just using the "rough" bit at the edge of the stage. Thats when I see punctures pretty reliably.
Im thinking all the sharp puncture causing stones are out there, thrown off the middle of the track by other cars/trucks using the trails when the rally isnt happening.
Maybe they coded it a bit like that. Id first think thats a bit too much effort for the devs, but when they have the windscreen crack on hard landing i dont put anything past them :D
