normally you take a cleaver: chop, chop, and cut it off

but seriously: slow down, turn the wheels (left analog), accelerate

take your scissors and cut the cord to the controller (if you have one)

Cut means to take your tires from the track and drive them onto the shoulder of the road. When the co-driver says left 5 cut - they are saying you can safely drive off the track (the shoulder) and keep a faster pace going into the corner. When you exit this kind of corner, the angle is usually wide enough that you can quickly get back on track without much steering correction. A corner like this requires some quick calculation on approach. You also want to look ahead to see whether your cut corner will allow you to efficiently continue through onto the next corner sometimes immediately after or the straight track ahead.

That is what Moon Legs means yes. Think of it as making as straight a line as you can through the corner or corners.

It is not necessary to listen to Phil though, more often than not when you are learning a stage, cutting when he says will cause you to crash on the exit, or at least go off the road a little, Phil is a bit of a joker . ;)

XBOX controller??? I cant even imagine using that. By the way, if you do decide to get a wheel, avoid the Logitech G29 G920 wheels. People will try to convince you that they're a good starting wheel for the money but they're clunky trash and make sim racing more difficult. Save up a little longer and get a Thrustmaster. Trust me, you will thank me when you do. I used G29 for a couple years and I feel like a complete idiot for wasting my time and money on that trash.
