Has anyone gotten into the Master level? What is the group you are playing?
With my current speed, I don't see any possibility that I can get into the Master level. I'd like to hear advice on those who got into the master level. I'm always at least 1 minute behind the AI on each stage. I feel it is so hard to even get into top 10.

1. Not drive in FWD classes, as they are impossible to beat at higher difficulties.
2. Always upgrade engine mapping, as soon as it's available.
3. Use assists and restarts, if necessary.
4. Use soft tyres only, unless it's raining in Spain, then use wets.
5. Always make use of shakedowns, before each rally, to come up with the best possible tuning for each location.

I've gotten into masters using the Citroen R5, and the first thing that comes to mind is if you have forgotten to upgrade the car you are using? You need to unlock the engine mappings and then pay for the installation.

Speed comes with experience and it's just to go out there and grind. Also try different settings on the car that suits your driving style.

The ai is ♥♥♥♥ (some times are as fast as #1 in the time trials )and depends on the class you're driving.
Tried elite with the golf gti and always was in the low 20s.
Tried again with the grp a lancia and i'm in the top 3.

Most important advice is: don't use R2 and H2FWD classes. The AI always has impossible times.
So try out a couple of different classes, maybe you'll find one that let's you progress.

I drove Citroen C4 and won the master championship.
I selected "quit to main menu" in rally stages many many times.
( There is a limit on the number of restarts, but there is no limit on leaving )

At First, you complete engine mapping and buy all upgrades, and attack again and again.

My result of Master class championship.
1st/2nd/3rd/9th/1st/1st
Spa/USA/Arg/pol/Aus/New

I think poland is hardest rally in this game, AI Drivers is incredibly fast...

At this level of difficulty, I do not want to run again.

Gr B 4wd class seems quite impossible too (at least USA+Australia where I've driven so far on elite with Audi), specially if u are driving these with high rotation (900 degrees) and no handbrake-rule.

I have to push too close to my 100% level driving and that means too many mistakes even when I'm quite familiar with stages after 80h played. Time losses from those mistakes means I've no chance of winning the event and even with quite clean driving getting into Top 10 is hard. Audi that I'm driving isn't fully upgraded (engine tune 3) but I doubt that makes much difference when even on current power amount I'm making too many mistakes with it.

Pro level with H3 BMW Me e30 (720degrees, fully upgraded) was very easy, on some events I could beat fastest AI by 2,5minutes (on 8 stages) including some smaller mistakes so jump to Elite with Gr B 4wd the change in difficulty level is massive.

gotten into masters in R4, but it's hard to finish in the top 10. Has anyone beaten the game in masters, and if so, in which class?

Playing the right class seems to matter a lot too. I can beat the AI any day in R5, be competitive in Group A and as long as I don't crash get really strong results in most RWD classes. However H2 FWD and Group B RWD are a lot tougher with Group B RWD not working at all (the Ai would basically beat the Citroen C3 R5 by 20 seconds minimum on a clean run).

Thanks for sharing guys. I'll see if I fully upgrade the car how it goes.

Try Lancia Fulvia. Easy to drive and repair cost free.

I just got 12th place at North Fork Pass/Dry with a 6:06.3. Which was also good enough for 13th place on the leaderboard. And I'm only on the elite difficulty, lol.

#1 A.I. in my race had a 5:50.7 and on the leaderboard #1 was a 5:26.8. So would 5:30-5:45 be a good estimate on master times?

Edit: I was driving the Delta S4 in the Group B championship.

In the weekly ai argentina h2 fwd in one stage the ai was 15seconds faster then global #1.

There is no need to drive Masters.

1. AI bugged. Era's/Classes/Cars
2. No achievements
3. You're leaning on trial and error to win aka abuse the 5 starts
4. AI is unrealistic compared to real life anyway

5. Masters had a purpose in Dirt Rally 1. Which had a better championship mode.
6. Well, at last we aren't trying to win gold medals anymore, hehe

I used R4/R5 most of the time but beat Masters with H1, which was basically free.
